Church of S. Cosma and Damiano

The church of Saints Cosma and Damiano is a missing church in L'Aquila, located in the quarter of San Pietro. </It owed its construction to the inhabitants of the castle of Cagnano Amiterno, who thus contributed to the foundation of the city in the 13th century. Canoe excursion on the Tirino:

Among the things to see in the province of L'Aquila there is also the Tirino river,  known as the clearest river in Europe  (yet I had never heard of it) because it is fed by pure spring waters of surprising colours: emerald green, jade and then turquoise again. The canoe excursion is organized by the Il Bosso cooperative and the companions entertained us like storytellers, telling us about the traditions linked to this place and describing the fauna that characterizes it, which is an indication of the purity of the river environment.
After traveling a long distance, we dived in, defying the 10°C of the water, ate river celery and drank the spring water. On the way back we remained in reverential silence so as not to disturb the animals and to be able to spot them. It is a wonderful experience that I particularly recommend.

Excursion cost: 55 euros for two people

Excursion duration: two and a half hours
